Taking up a tree branch, repeatedly heating and carving it to create distortion. Adding a pencil lead to make it a writing instrument, revealing its profound unsuitability for the task.

A term referring to writing that deviates from the truth due to flattery or fear. From the Book of Later Han, Volume 58, Biography of Zang Hong: "The southern historian did not seek mere survival, thus his likeness was preserved and his name passed down to future generations."
 

Also refers to deliberately misinterpreting legal texts when delivering judgments. From the History of Northern Dynasties, Volume 34, Biography of You Ya: "Once when Emperor Xuanwu ordered Zhao to grant leniency, he refused to comply, saying: 'Your Majesty can pardon them yourself, but you cannot ask me to do so.'"

執起樹枝,以反復加熱、掘撓方式,令其變形。加入筆芯,以作書寫工具,顯示何其不適合之處。

因阿諛或有所畏懼而不能據事實直書。《後漢書.卷五十八.臧洪傳》:「南史不以求存,故身傳圖象,名垂後世。」

故意曲解法律條文而下判決。《北史.卷三十四.游雅傳》:「宣武嘗敕肇有所降恕,執而不從,曰:『陛下自能恕之,豈可令臣也。』」
